Whether helping reduce the Gulf’s reliance on fossil fuels or sustainably addressing Africa’s energy woes, Maurice has always been drawn to big, important challenges.  His combination of energy, consumer marketing, entrepreneurial and nuts & bolts leadership experience position him uniquely to lead Pawame into the future.  He holds an MBA from Stanford University, an MA in International Relations from the University of Maryland, and a BS from the U.S. Naval Academy.  “I look forward to the day when Pawame can claim to have transformed millions of lives for the better and meaningfully contributed to poverty alleviation in Africa.  It’s what moves us.”


Nick Sparks
Chief Operations Officer, Co-Founder

Passionate about bringing People together with Process, ensuring teams and companies can grow successfully and quickly. He believes the workplace should be productive but also a fun and inspiring place. Nick has over a decade’s worth of experience in the corporate sector, having held roles in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. An engineer at heart with a talent for people leadership. Nick holds a Masters in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Bristol University, UK.

Majd Chaaya
Chief Technology Officer, Co-Founder

An Industrial Engineer and master of new energy technologies with 6 years experience in quality systems and manufacturing process improvement. Obviously tech passionate, futurologist with a vision on how the world should be if we were to start over.

Skander Alexandre Allegue
Chairman of the Board, Co-Founder

With more than 10 years of leadership in developing, managing and restructuring businesses. Skander is the former General Manager and co-founder of Sun & Life, a solar energy leader in the Middle East. He holds an eMBA from Harvard Business School, Master in Strategy from ESSEC and Engineer Degree (ESIA).
Wildlife lover with a passion for Africa, Skander spends most of his spare time on Safaris.

Catherine Wahome

What wakes her up every morning? It’s the desire to drive results through people. This passion stemmed from her involvement in Talent Development and Entrepreneurship as a leader of a global students’ organization called AIESEC in Uganda.  Catherine later spent almost two years in India, managing an agile workforce allocation system in a large IT-Consulting company and later with a talent management consulting firm working with start-ups to build them highly effective teams. “I’m excited about enabling a team of diverse professionals to meet the needs of our growing organization through executing key HR strategies and building foundational pillars to support multi-state employees and drive performance”.


Ronald Okumu
Finance Director

With more than 6 years of experience in Corporate Banking, Finance and Investments with Standard Chartered and Barclays Bank Kenya. Business Development and Entrepreneurship are areas of great passion for Ronald, having built and sold several startups in Africa.
Ronald holds a BA in Economics from the University of Nairobi and a BA in Accounting from Strathmore University, Kenya.
Madly in love with his wife, a proud father of 2 children, 3 dogs, self confessed golf addict, and a full-time Operations Director.

Sebastian Wichmann

Head of Legal & Partnerships

Sebastian is an English qualified lawyer with wide commercial experience. Having studied and worked in Europe and Asia with an international law firm, Sebastian returned to Kenya, his home country, where he has been involved in a wide range of projects, from start-ups to setting up and running the Nairobi office of an international professional services firm. Driven by a desire to participate in one of the most innovative business sectors in East Africa, Sebastian joined Pawame in November 2016 where he is in charge of developing strategic partnerships as well as acting as the company’s General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer.
